Legal Tech Fund Zach Posner

In today`s conversation, we talked about how this financial expert came to invest in legal technology, the criteria Zach used to make investments, and his plans for the first LegalTech Fund Summit in December. Zach Posner co-founded the Legaltech Fund in 2020 as the first venture capital firm focused on legal law and legal technology. But even with this industry focus, it looks broadly at what it sees as legal tech, looking for startups that are „legally in the middle,” but can also include fintech, govtech, or consumer tech. Companies in which the fund has invested include: Aumni, which provides financial and legal analysis using data from legal agreements; Josef, which helps law firms and others automate their services through robots and documents; and SoloSuit, which assists debtors in responding to collection requests. Zach Posner is co-founder and managing partner of The Legal Tech Fund, an investment fund focused exclusively on early-stage legal technology startups. He is himself an accomplished entrepreneur who founded and sold three companies in different industries. Posner, a three-time entrepreneur before becoming an investor and now managing director of the Legaltech Fund, explains with me why he created a fund for legal technology, what opportunities he sees in it and what types of companies he wants to invest in. He also shares his advice to entrepreneurs presenting a venture capital firm and offers his perspective on the broader landscape of investment and innovation in legal technology.
