Legal Tender Love and Care

This episode was written by a newcomer to the series – Saladin K. Patterson – and to be honest, it shows. There are several scary and scary sections of this episode, while the sequence with a sick Niles in an elevator lasts far too long. Teri Polo, who you may have seen as Ben Stiller`s girlfriend in the excellent `Meet The Parents`, gives a decent performance, but it was Martin who in my opinion had the funniest lines by sarcastically commenting on the size of Abby`s bill and her lax notes. A disturbing start from a writer that would prove to be the worst the series has ever had, and the talented cast seems to recognize the poor quality of the script of this episode, which unfortunately makes this watch painful. Abby Michaels: If not, thanks for noticing, Frasier. Frasier begins to suspect that his attractive new lawyer (played by Teri Polo) is wrongly raising his bill. Also invited with Saul Rubinek. – Abby wants everyone to accompany Frasier to dinner, but Frasier wants Abby for herself: Frasier: We are rarely available together.

Niles: I`m open. Daphne: Always good for me. Frasier: Oh no, thanks for being like that, uh. remarkable. After a series of average episodes, „Legal Tender Love and Care” continues the trend. It`s by no means a bad episode, but it doesn`t shine, and the characters rarely step out of their existing models. John Mahoney gets the best lines (literally), and Jane Leeves can wrap up the Donny chapter of her life that has remained since the first episode of the season. I also like Teri Polo, who has a direct approach to her character.

I would say that this farce never arises for many reasons. Frasier is used to sabotaging his own dates, yes, but here it is really on Martin`s advice that he does it. Also, the episode seems to suggest that he is a fool for sacrificing a hot blonde for money and morals — a suggestion the show has rarely made in the past. Grammer and Polo play the email scene very well, but I don`t think it adds anything to the character, nor does it really fit Frasier`s previous (very entertaining) episodes that are so close. Thus far. Overall, I still love it more than „The Great Crane Robbery,” which just needed a joke and ran with it. But it`s a storyline that, unfortunately, doesn`t really deal with the characters beneath the surface, which lowers it a bit. I look forward to reviewing Mr. Paterson`s other six credited contributions in due course. For now, however, this is only the sign of a first author of the series. Not necessarily as unfortunate as some might think! – While eating, Abby says dinner is in the company: Frasier: Oh no, I wanted to pay for dinner.

Martin: Don`t worry, you`re (!) Frasier: This costume will be very close to you. Is this new? Frasier, Niles and Daphne are all in Frasier`s apartment, waiting for Frasier`s expensive (and very attractive) lawyer, Abby, to come and inform them of Donny`s trial against Frasier and Daphne. When she does, they are a little shocked when she tells them that Donny called earlier in the day to drop the lawsuit — with no real explanation why. Frasier surprises Abby by asking her out on a date – and she accepts! Meanwhile, Frasier receives his bill from Abby and is surprised at how much she charges — $4,000 just for phone consultations, for example — and becomes even more determined to do something about it when Martin informs her that Daphne`s lawyer charged half of what Abby did for the same job. – Niles says that trials make him nervous, because: Niles: I`m usually unfazed. Frasier: If you were to float even more, we would have to fly you at half-mast on Veterans Day. Later that week, at the festive dinner, Frasier worries about Abby`s files when she starts the clock when she talks to a customer, but forgets to stop her watch when she has spoken to him. There`s also a potentially awkward moment when Donny arrives at the same restaurant and reveals why he dropped the lawsuit – he just got engaged. The lax measurement of Abby`s time at the restaurant led Frasier to send her a very specific email asking for a point-by-point breakdown of her bill, and receives a phone call from Abby asking her to see him immediately. When he arrives, Frasier discovers that Abby`s email system has broken down and hasn`t read her email yet, but when Abby starts coming to Frasier, her email arrives with perfect timing, leaving Frasier with no choice but to try to delete it before Abby can read it. – Frasier is surprised by Abby`s $4,000 bill for telephone consulates: Frasier: Who the hell is she talking to? Martin: All her friends – brag about the new moron she has on the hook! Rating: 59.0% Total Ratings: 5 – Outside of court, Daphne warns Donny not to rush with Wendy: Daphne: Take the time to get to know yourself – trust me, you`ll be glad you did when the day finally comes when the day finally comes when you`re getting married. [Wendy comes in a wedding dress].

And what do you know, it`s here!.
